Periodontal disease, also known as "pungchi, affects more than eight out of ten adults. Initially, it's largely painless, but symptoms become apparent as the condition progresses. When symptoms do appear, simple scaling treatments are often more than sufficient. Mild gum disease can be treated with scaling alone.
